Ingredients
There are only a few ingredients needed for this chicken wings recipe.
Chicken Wings: 2 pounds of chicken wings.
Hot Sauce: Hot sauce is needed to make the Buffalo sauce. We like Frank's Red Hot Original Hot Sauces but you are welcome to use your own preference.
Butter: Unsalted butter is needed to make the Buffalo sauce. You'll need 2/3 cup of butter per 1 cup of hot sauce
Salt & Pepper: The wings are seasoned lightly with your preferred amount of salt & pepper before they are cooked in the air fryer.
***Arrowroot Starch Flour: Arrowroot starch is an optional ingredient. The wings will still cook perfectly without it but if you want some crispier wings, add in this. ingredient.
Making the Easy Air Fryer Buffalo Wings
Making chicken wings in the air fryer is very easy.
Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees.
Toss the wings with salt, pepper, and arrowroot starch (optional).
Add the prepared wings to the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook your wings in batches depending on the size of your air fryer because you do not want the wings to overlap each other.
Cook for 11 minutes, flip the wings and then cook an additional 11 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reached 165 degrees and the wings are crisp to your liking.
Next prepare the sauce. Add the Frank's red hot sauce and butter to medium-size sauce pan. Simmer for 10 minutes, whisking frequently. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar for an additional kick. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Remove the wings from the air fryer basket and add to a large bowl. Pour the Buffalo sauce on top of the chicken wings and toss to coat evenly.
You can make the Buffalo sauce ahead of time. The homemade Buffalo sauce can be kept and stored in the refrigerator for up to 30 days.
For this recipe we paired the wings with a no anchovy healthier Cesar Salad. You can make the Cesar dressing at home ahead of time and store it for up to 6 days. Use a dipping sauce for vegetables or add to a salad.
